Key scriptures to read as a family:  Genesis 26:12-22; 1 Chronicles 28:1-3; 2 Chronicles 26:1-8; Romans 12:18-21; James 4:1-3

Talk about it:
Ask: 
  • Do you think people not getting along is a new problem?
  • Why do you think countries sometimes don't get along?  (Read James 4:1-3)
  • How do you think this applies to how people get along with each other?
  • How can we treat each other in our family when we don't get along?

Second Grade

This week your child will about the book of Psalms (the second book in the Writings).

Talk about it:
Ask: 
  • Psalms is a book of what?   (Songs)
  • Many of the songs we sing in church come from the book of Psalms. Can you think of any songs that we sing at our church from Psalms?
  • How many Psalms are in the Bible?  (150)
  • Who wrote most psalms?  (King David wrote 73 Psalms)
  • Why is it important that we remember the psalms are poetry?  (Poetry uses words to paint a picture.)

Third Grade

This week your child will learn about Pentecost, and discover they can build God's kingdom with the Holy Spirit's power. 

Talk about it:
Ask: 
  • What is Pentecost? (A Jewish holiday celebrated 50 days after Passover.)
  • During Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came down to Jesus' followers. What happened?  (They all began speaking in different languages.)
  • Jesus told His followers to spread the good news. Where did He tell them to go when spreading the news?  (Judea, Samaria, and the Ends of the Earth.)
  • how will you build God's kingdom this week with the power of the Holy Spirit?

Talk about it:
Ask: 
  • There are two types of rules in Leviticus.  What are they called?  (Ritual and Ethical)
  • Can you remember a ritual rule that the Israelites followed?  (Hint:  Look in Leviticus together as a family.)
  • Are we suppose to follow Ritual or Ethical rules today?  (Ethical)
  • What are Ethical Rules?  (How we behave, and how we help each other)
  • What is a way that we, as a family, can help each other?

Preschool and Kindergarten

Jesus at the Temple
Bible Story to read together:  Matthew 2:19-23; Luke 2:41-52
Ask:  Where did Mary & Joseph find Jesus in Jerusalem?
Say:  Jesus went to the Temple to talk to the teachers about God.  We can learn about God as we grow, too.
Ask:  What are some ways we can learn about God?  (listen to Bible stories. Sing songs about God.  God to worship with mom and dad. Etc.)
Say:  God will help us learn more about Him as we grow.  God loves us!

High School

Our high school students are beginning "Christianity Explored" this Sunday and continuing for 6 weeks.  This series is taught by Mario Alijandre and is an in depth study of Christianity, exploring many of the questions that our students may have.
