A Rich Man's Question
Bible Story to read together:  Matthew 19:16-26; mark 10:17-27; Luke 18:18-27
After reading the story;

Say: We read in the Bible that a rich man decided to keep his money instead of sharing what he had with others.  Giving money to others is a good way to share with others.  
Ask:  What is something you share with others?  Sharing is a good thing to do.
Say:  Our Bible says, "Do good and be ready to share."  Jesus teaches us to do good things for others.  Jesus will help us do good things like sharing.
Pray:  Dear Jesus, please help us to do good things for others.  Amen.

Key Faith Foundation: Being Patient in Prayer

Talk about it:

• Name two women in the Bible who had to wait a long time for God to answer their prayers for a baby.  (Sarah in Genesis 21; Rachel in Genesis 30; Elizabeth in Luke 1).
• Discover how long the Israelites had to wait for God to answer their prayers for freedom from Egypt (400 years, Genesis 15). 
• Discover who in your family has waited the longest for God to answer a prayer.

Talk about it:
Ask:

How many books are included in the prophetic books?  (17)

In the Old Testament, the prophetic books are divided into which 2 categories?  (Major and Minor Prophets)

You created a timeline of your life.  What did you draw or write on your timeline?

How are prophets similar to alarm clocks?  (They deliver wake-up calls to the people. They warn people of things they are about to miss.)

Have you ever needed a wake up call? Tell us about a time you needed to stop doing something and ask for forgiveness.

This week your child will hear stories from Joshua Part 2 and learn about the 12 tribes of Israel.

Talk about it:

• You learned about the second section in the book of Joshua. What happens in this section of Joshua?  (Israelites fight many battles to take the land that God gave them.)
• The Bible tells us of 12 tribes of Israel? Can you remember any of the tribes names?  (Gad, Naphtali, Dan, Judah, Manasseh, Asher, Ephraim, Benjamin, Simeon, Issachar, Reuben, Zebulun)
• How did you feel when you heard that none of us can reach God's standard?  (Because we choose to sin.)
• What do you think about God's great rescue plan?
• What difference does the story of Joshua make in your life?

Jesus Loves Zacchaeus
Bible Story to read together:  Luke 19:1-10
After reading the story;

Say:  Our Bible says, "You are kind and forgiving, O Lord."  "Lord" is another name for Jesus. Jesus loves us and when we ask, He forgives us for the wrong things we do.  In our story, a man named Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Jesus.  Later he asked Jesus to forgive him and Jesus did!
Pray:  Dear Jesus, we are sorry for the wrong things we do. Please forgive us. We love You. Amen.
